The Rail Container Terminal, designed, invested, constructed, and operated by PTB Group, is located at Shahid Rajaee Port. It began operations in 2013 with a $12 million investment and currently operates on an 8-hectare site with 3×1,000 meter rail lines in phase 1. This terminal has an annual handling capacity of 250,000 TEUs aimed at inland destinations and origins.

Phase 2 Expansion Plans

Phase 2 plans include expanding the railway infrastructure to 5×1,000 meter lines and increasing annual capacity to 500,000 TEUs to meet growing market demand.

Strategic Rail Connectivity and Infrastructure

The terminal features direct rail connectivity to the national railway network and Aprin Dry Port, located about 20 kilometers from Tehran. Aprin provides comprehensive container and logistics services, ensuring smooth inland distribution and integration between rail and road transport.

Moreover, the terminal benefits from a strategic rail corridor passing through Incheh Borun, Iran's northern border crossing, facilitating fast, cost-effective, and reliable transportation of goods from southern ports to northern markets and neighboring countries.
